Growth Mindset Reimagined, 2025
Melissa Hernandez, known artistically as Melissa Allegories, is a Brooklyn-born, Dominican-American visual artist and creative writer whose practice transforms observations about human life into allegorical worlds, figures, objects, and environments. Her practice integrates storytelling, philosophy, and visual art to examine human flourishing, ethical reflection, and the relationship between inner experience and the external world.
Allegories is a systems-based artist and writer who constructs a self-contained narrative universe through authored conceptual language. Working within the Time2Bloom framework, she develops narrative worlds such as Lében—allegorical environments for philosophical inquiry. Her work comprises interconnected visual and written pieces that operate within structured systems of meaning, where narrative and symbolism function as instruments for exploring human development and ethical thought.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art from Florida Atlantic University (2011), with a focus in drawing, painting, and printmaking. Allegories has exhibited work across the United States and internationally and received the Broward County Cultural Division Artist Support Grant in 2023.
